Our Story

Throughout my life, I’ve been privileged to work in different parts of the world. Everywhere I’ve lived, I’ve learned the local language. Through that process, I discovered two things about myself: a love for language learning, and a love for helping others reach their own language-learning goals.

One principle of building a successful business is doing something you genuinely enjoy. With that in mind, in February 2020 my wife and I, together with our valued partner, Sobir Kayumov, founded Access English Resources. Our initial aim was simple: to study the ESL market in Uzbekistan and understand what we, as native speakers, could meaningfully contribute.

Within two weeks of signing the charter for our new company, worldwide COVID lockdowns forced us to return to the United States. Like many others, our plans were put on hold until conditions stabilized.

We returned to Uzbekistan in 2021 and began operations by partnering with the newly formed Language Promotion Agency (LPA) of the Uzbek government, along with Diglot and Pinnacle Teaching Solutions. Our early work focused on supporting local English teachers by preparing them for TKT certification. Pinnacle, Diglot, and LPA were important partners that helped us get started.

At the same time, with Pinnacle’s support, we began offering Access English Experiences in local private schools. Our first partners were Leader School and RIKS Education Center. We remain grateful to these early partners who helped us take our first steps in Tashkent. The Access English Experience was designed as an extra-curricular conversation club, meant to complement a school’s regular English curriculum rather than replace it. We still offer it today!

In 2023, we decided to branch out and operate our own language center, English With Americans. During this period, our teaching staff grew, and we gained valuable insight into the day-to-day realities of running a language center. This experience helped us understand where we could add the most value in the local ESL market.

In 2024, we pivoted away from operating our own language center and returned to our original vision of partnering with existing schools and language centers and helping them become even stronger. That same year, we added our first corporate client and began teaching English at Alif Uzbekistan, a leading fintech company.

Looking ahead, we aim to continue serving schools, language centers, and businesses by providing reliable, professional English instruction. We are excited about the future and committed to growing alongside the institutions we work with.
